It is hard to believe that we launched The Orchid House fourteen years ago today. Little could we imagine that we would be celebrating this birthday from the safety of our homes, with our shop door firmly closed.
Yes, lockdown continues in response to this pandemic. Extraordinary times for everyone, and yet we remain remarkably positive. The amazing stories of heroism, the heartbreaking tales of suffering and hardship, and the overwhelming acts of kindness put all our everyday worries into perspective. Most definitely, a time to count our blessings.
And when this passes, we will be ready. Quite literally the day before we closed, we had applied the finishing brush strokes to our total refurbishment. The shelves are fully stocked with beautiful new products, which we cannot wait to show you, and we are raring to go!
We would just like to thank our wonderful staff, Elaine and Helena, for all their help, our faithful suppliers (who face many challenges of their own), our understanding landlords, and most of all, our dear customers.

Most people who know me, know that I'm not a great fan of the cold. However, when I took my dog, Rocky, our German Pointer, out this morning, at some ridiculous hour, the sunrise was breathtaking and I felt it was worth sharing. Well, when I say breathtaking, I mean it was pretty special. I could hardly get my phone out of my pocket, to take the photo, my hands were that cold having forgotten to wear gloves! So glad I didn't miss the opportunity. With it being only 5 weeks until Christmas Eve, (yikes), I thought this would get you all in the mood for Christmas.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at TOH. To be honest, it has since mid September, when hundreds, and hundreds of baubles, tree decorations, garlands, and sprays arrived. Several weeks later, the shop is all aglow, twinkling, sparkling, and covered in glitter... much like ourselves. We exclusively stock Gisela Graham Christmas, a vast, beautiful, and eclectic range of festive decorations. There really is something for everyone. As well as Gisela Graham, we also stock some ranges of giftware specifically for Christmas from Cath Kidston, Sophie Allport, and Greengate. Please pop in and take a look, we would love to meet you. No Christmas tunes until December we promise!
